The Rev. Zack Nyein is an Episcopal priest, serving as Senior Associate Rector and Pastor of Imagine Worship at St. Bart's NYC
Zack grew up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee, where his mother's family resides. His father's family hails from Myanmar, where his grandfather, Kyaw Nyein, served as Deputy Prime Minister. He is a lifelong choral singer and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he majored in vocal music education, with an honors thesis in choral conducting.
Zack studied for ordination at Yale Divinity School, in conjunction with Berkeley Episcopal Divinity School at Yale and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Following seminary Zack served two parishes in Tennessee and Georgia before coming to St. Bart's. He currently resides with his husband Michael Waterson in Midtown West in Manhattan and enjoys walking the High Line, seeing Broadway plays, travel, fitness, and enjoying all the ice cream the city has to offer.
